Why We Built Heritage AI: A Quiet Home for Family Memory
Heritage AI grew out of a simple student worry: families have photographs, documents, voices and stories, but almost no place where they become a living, careful picture of loved ones.

Heritage AI did not begin with a presentation or a fine phrase about technology. It began with an awkward feeling familiar to almost every family: the most important things lie close by, but not together. Photographs in phones, documents in folders, stories in voice messages, dates in the memory of older relatives, and the faces of loved ones slowly drifting into different corners of life.
We are two students of HSE University (the Higher School of Economics, Moscow), and we noticed this problem first in our own families. It seems everyone has a person they want to remember more about: how they laughed, where they worked, which letters they kept, whom they loved, what they could explain in one calm sentence. But when you try to gather it in one place, it turns out there is almost no suitable space.
What we could not find
There are cloud drives. There are genealogy services. There are notes, albums, chats, archives. But we did not find a project that could gather the most valuable things not as a set of files but as the story of the people close to you. Not just storing a photograph, but linking it to a person. Not just writing down a date, but keeping its place in the family chronicle. Not just adding a document, but understanding why it matters.
The idea
That is how the idea of Heritage AI appeared: a calm service for a family archive, a family tree, memories and digital legacy. A place where you can start with one person and gradually gather around them photographs, events, documents, small details and big turns of fate.
We call it family memory in human form. No museum dust, no cold table, no feeling that you must become an archivist at once. It is enough to open the profile of someone close and add the first thing: a name, a photograph, one story, one date. Something very big often starts from there.
Who it is for
Heritage AI is for those who want to preserve their family’s story for children, parents, brothers, sisters and future generations. For those who understand that loved ones should not remain only in chats, random folders and oral stories that one day nobody will be left to repeat.
If this thought resonates, begin gently. Choose one person. Add what you already have. The rest will come. Family memory likes attention, not haste.
