Rewards rules for invitations
These are the rules of the rewards for invitations to Heritage AI: what you get, when and how much, what is cancelled if a payment is refunded, and how we check for abuse. The rewards are not money: they are gigabytes of storage and months of Family Archive. There is no joining fee, and no money is paid out for invitations.
Who runs it and who can take part
Any user with an account can take part. Your link and code are in the app, in the Rewards section.
The programme is run by the contractor whose requisites are at the bottom of this page and on the Contacts page.
What you get
- Step 1. +1 GB of storage for every invitee who registered through your link and added at least one relative to their tree (the tree must have at least 2 people: the invitee and one more). No more than 10 such rewards, that is, up to 10 GB.
- Step 2a. When an invitee first pays for Family Archive, you get 5 GB of storage; for Researcher, 10 GB. We do not currently limit the number of such payments.
- Step 2b, "a month for both". For an invitee's first payment for a plan (by card or by transfer; renewals and add-ons do not count), each of you, you and the invitee, gets a month of Family Archive. For you, no more than 10 months in total. The invitee's month is not limited by this cap.
There are two levels: you and the person you invited. If your invitee invites someone, that gives you nothing.
How a month is added
- If the person has a paid plan running, it is extended by one month.
- If the plan is free or has ended, one month of Family Archive is switched on. It does not renew by itself, no card is linked and no money is charged at the end.
- If the person has permanent access, there is nothing to extend: no month is added.
Why a 14-day wait
Months are added 14 days after the invitee's first payment. That is the period in which the payment can be refunded: if it is refunded, the months are not added. While the period runs, the month shows as pending in the Rewards section.
If a payment is refunded
- The reward for the invitee's first payment (5 or 10 GB) is cancelled and no longer counts toward your storage.
- Months that have not been added yet are cancelled.
- The 1 GB for the invitee adding a relative stays: that reward is not for a payment.
A refund of later purchases and add-ons does not affect the rewards.
How we check for abuse
- Your own email address does not count, including in another spelling (with a "+", dots in Gmail addresses and the like).
- One invitee counts once.
- If the invitee's first payment is made with your card or with a card that has already earned a reward, there is no reward for it. Cards are compared by an encrypted fingerprint: we do not store the card number.
- If you have more than 3 payments from invitees within 7 days, a staff member reviews the months for them by hand and may reject them.
- A link can only be applied to a new account, within 7 days of registration.
